Coats Spiral Zips are manufactured using the unique ‘S’-technology, the core of which is in only one weaving operation where high quality fibres are interwoven whilst inserting the spiral. This allows for a smaller slider, because the spiral lies flat on the textile tape and increases the strength of the zip.

Le cerniere a spirale sono generalmente realizzate in poliestere o poliammide (nylon). Questa spirale diventa l’opzione migliore anche in caso di normale produzione di indumenti (generalmente pantaloni da uomo) quando si utilizza la catena continua su rotoli. Questo è basato sul fatto che la principale proprietà di questa particolare zip è l'elasticità. Inoltre, anche le due estremità superiori della cerniera sono costituite dallo stesso materiale plastico. Le zip a spirale in poliestere sono dunque più adatte a chi utilizza cerniere già pronte o tagliate.
