Sustainability Excellence

Coats has been awarded for its industry-leading sustainability efforts. Highlights include a 51% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions—surpassing its 2026 target ahead of schedule—and significant progress towards 100% renewable electricity by 2030, with 74% already achieved in 2024. Coats has also increased the use of low impact materials in products from 31% in 2022 to 46% in 2024, with a goal of reaching 60% by 2026. Over the past five years, it has conserved more than 7 million cubic meters of water and improved recycling rates, while reducing landfill waste by 87% since 2022. Coats’ long-term science-based emissions reduction targets have also been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, reflecting its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Championing Diversity

The Diversity – Women Leadership award recognises Coats’ strides in creating a more inclusive workplace. Female representation in senior leadership has grown from 19% in 2022 to 30% in 2024, exceeding the 2026 target ahead of schedule. This progress has been supported by the Coats for Her and Coats for All programmes, along with initiatives like the Female Recruitment Campaign, Women in Leadership Fast-Track Programme, and Return to Work Programme. The company also ensures a gender-balanced candidate pool for leadership roles and actively promotes the visibility of women leaders through storytelling, leadership panels, and industry engagement.

David Paja, Coats Group Chief Executive Officer, said:

“These awards reaffirm our commitment to sustainability and diversity, which are integral to our long-term growth strategy. At Coats, we believe that business success must go hand in hand with responsible innovation and an inclusive culture. I want to thank our teams around the world for their dedication and passion—together, we are shaping a future that is both sustainable and equitable.”

The Just Style Excellence Awards is an independent recognition program that uses business intelligence from GlobalData and Artificial Intelligence to identify and rank top-tier companies and their achievements in over 200 countries.
