Cardigans
Seam strength, seam elongation and comfort are key components for knitted cardigans. Our comprehensive range of sewing threads for knitwear does exceptionally well in these areas.
Polyester corespun sewing thread is recommended, but occasionally with wool or cotton garments, there is a requirement for the sewing thread used in creating Cut & Sew knitwear to have less lustre. When this is the case, a polyester/cotton sewing thread can be substituted in the corresponding Tex sizes.
On overlock, chainstitch and coverseaming operations, the under thread may be substituted for Gramax if a greater degree of seam covering is required.
Approximate thread consumption is 80 metres. Depending on the required final quality, alternative thread types may be used. Thread size will determine needle size.

The final thread choice will be determined by the fabric weight, the construction of the load bearing seams and the stitch definition required (topstitching). Sometimes, Gramax Tex 18 is used on the overlock loopers to reduce the overall thread cost in the garments.
