Coats appoints Global Sales Director Wire and Cable Products

  • 17 Sep 2017

Coats, the world’s leading industrial thread manufacturer, has appointed Jordi Pérez to the newly created role of Global Sales Director, Wire and Cable Products.  The role will consolidate and coordinate Coats’ global commercial strategy and activity for this key industry.

Jordi will lead the Wire and Cable Global Team based in major markets across the world, including China, India, US and across EMEA and South Asia.  Customers will benefit from a uniform service offering from a single global team with fully integrated sales and commercial activities.

Shantanu Banerjee, President, Performance Materials, Coats, said: ‘The wire and cable industry is an important focus for Coats and we are constantly looking at how we can most effectively deliver benefits to all our customers.  This newly created role will bring together technology and commercial synergies that improve our service to customers and ensure our full value added engineered yarns offering is available in all our markets across the world.’

Jordi retains his current role as General Manager of Gotex.  The Spanish based company designs and manufactures high performance fibres, yarns and tapes for use in the telecommunications, energy, composites and oil and gas sectors and was acquired by Coats in June 2016.

Jordi joined Gotex in 2013.  He has experience of working in both the energy and environmental   industries, and previously held General Manager and Commercial Director roles in a number of multinational companies.  Jordi is an Industrial Engineer, has an MBA from ESADE Business School, Barcelona and is a member of the Advisory Board and Executive Committee of the Barcelona International Business Club (BIBC), one of the most prestigious business clubs in Spain.  Jordi continues to be based at the Gotex manufacturing site in Sabadell, near Barcelona, Spain.

Coats and Gotex combine their long standing expertise in industrial threads and engineered yarns with innovative technologies to identify new end uses specifically tailored for the wire and cable industry. Technical yarns are transformed via unique and proprietary coating technologies to reinforce, insulate and protect fibre optic cables.  Cutting edge products are available in a wide range of material substrates for use as strength members, ripcords, binder yarns, marker yarns and for dry water blocking.

Products include: Gotex Fiberglass, a strength member for preventing elongation in fibre optic cables and protecting against fire and rodents; Ultrabloc S, a water swellable yarn for dry blocking in fibre optic cables; Protos Ripcord PF, with a unique protective film coating which is highly resistant to abrasion and proven to help reduce ripcord size, especially in armoured cable applications; and Gral Binder LS, a high tenacity multi-filament polyester yarn with ultra-low shrink, specially engineered to ensure that the binder does not indent buffer tubes which can cause a defect in the cable and disrupt the stranding operation.
