  • 23 Jan 2015

Bill Watson, Managing Director of Coats Phong Phu, has been awarded a Certificate of Merit from the office of the Prime Minister of Vietnam.  Coats Phong Phu is the Vietnam business of Coats plc, the world’s leading industrial thread and consumer textile crafts business.

Bill Watson was recognised for his achievement in developing and building the strong business partnership between Vietnamese and foreign enterprises, as well as contributing to the growth of the Vietnamese textile and garment industry.  The presentation was made by Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ministry, Mr Do Thang Hai, at the recent Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) Annual Summation Ceremony in Hanoi.

Paul Forman, Group Chief Executive, Coats plc, said: ‘This is great recognition for Bill’s work not just in helping make the Coats business successful in Vietnam but also his contribution to the wider Vietnamese textile and garment industry.’

Bill Watson, Managing Director, Coats Phong Phu, said: ‘I am immensely proud to have received this recognition from the office of the Prime Minister.  I have lived and worked in this region for over 20 years and to be recognised with a national award such as this is truly a great honour.’

This recognition follows a highly successful 2014 for Coats Phong Phu.  In November it celebrated 25 years of operating in the country and in December, it won the People Empowerment category at the sixth annual Vietnam Supply Chain Awards, held by a national association for supply chain professionals.  Earlier in the year, Quyen Le, HR Director was awarded ‘Human Resources Professional of the Year’ by Towers Watson, a leading global professional services agency.
