Coats gets creative in response to COVID-19

The Health and Safety of our workforce is our number one priority at Coats.

In response to the unfolding COVID-19 pandemic, in early April we updated our Health and Safety guidance to include the requirement for all employees in a Coats location to wear cloth face coverings.

While Coats did provide face coverings as part of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), team members were given the option to get creative and make their own if they wished to. To celebrate everyone’s creativity and efforts, a face mask fashion show competition was launched on Yammer where employees were invited to share their creations in one of the following categories:

  1. Best handmade
  2. Most creative/innovative
  3. Most protective

In order to enter the competition, each participant was asked to take a photograph of themselves wearing their mask and post it in the dedicated Yammer group using the hashtags indicating which category they are entering – #besthandmade #mostinnovative #mostprotective.

Sean Alvarez, Group Health and Safety Director, remarked: ‘It’s clear that much time, effort and thought had gone into the creative submissions. We had an impressive amount of entries – over 190 photos were submitted. Thank you to everyone who entered the Coats Face Mask Fashion Show and for continuing to lead by example by wearing a face covering and social distancing. Together we can fight COVID-19.’
