Surfilor

Surfilor
An exceptionally soft texturised nylon sewing thread for soft, comfortable next-to-skin fluffy seams
Coats Surfilor is an exceptionally soft texturised nylon sewing thread which produces seams with a luxurious feel.

This fluffy thread has excellent extensibility and good sewing performance. The inherent crimp properties of Surfilor deliver excellent seam coverage, therefore giving exceptional seam comfort in your garments. It is suitable for use in the loopers of overlocking, serging and cover seaming on jersey knitted fabrics. Surfilor makes it possible for you to create exceptionally soft seams where a nylon thread is preferred over polyester, ideal for "next-to-the-skin" applications. In addition low friction sewing lubricant will help to provide good sewing performance. Surfilor is certified to Öko-Tex Standard 100, class I, the most stringent class covering textile items for babies and toddlers. It meets our Coats restricted substance list. We can also provide a specially engineered sewing thread, Surfilor FS which is specially engineered especially for flatseam operations. It offers excellent performance when used in the needle. AVERTISSEMENT

The softness of a seam relates to a number of factors including the exact choice of thread in needle and spreader, fabric, sewn seam direction, stitch density and thread tension.

Please refer to our technical bulletin on Soft and Secure Seams or further guidance.

Nylon has lower wash fastness properties than polyester and we recommend taking extra care when using textured nylon looper or cover threads in combination with polyester needle threads as a colour difference is likely to emerge with frequent domestic washing during the lifetime of the garment.
