  • 26 Sep 2017

Coats, the world’s leading industrial thread manufacturer and a major player in the Americas textile crafts market, has won two awards at the 2017 Corporate and Financial Awards.  It won Gold in the ‘Best online report: AIM/ small cap’ category and was also named ‘Best in-house corporate and financial communications team’, one of the most coveted awards of the event.

The Corporate and Financial Awards recognises excellence in all aspects of financial and corporate communication.  The sixth annual Awards Ceremony was held on Tuesday 26 September, at The Brewery in London.

Coats 2016 Annual Report was themed ‘Harnessing talent and technology in textiles’ and featured a redefined online presence.  The content-rich, mobile responsive mini site, kept to single page to provide users with a concise and consistent form of navigation and earned resounding praise from the Awards judges for ‘its clean and clear layout and exceptional attention to detail.’

‘Best in-house corporate and financial communications team’ recognises ability to effectively communicate and engage with a variety of stakeholders, using tailored communications strategies and tools.  It is in the ‘Special awards’ section which are the most coveted of the event. The small Group Communications team at Coats was described as: ‘motivated, creative and dynamic’ and ‘exhibited creativity, innovation and panache in the managing of major corporate announcements and the development of its global communications campaigns.’  The judges also 'lauded the group’s stellar communications strategy and multifaceted approach to managing global communications for a large organisation.’

Coats has experienced an unprecedented period of corporate change recently, including a new Group Chief Executive, two acquisitions, closure of the UK Crafts business and settlement with the UK Pensions Regulator.
