Our range of sewing threads for underwear slips prevent seam puckering and offer good seam strength as well as elongation.
Approximate thread consumption for a full length underslip is 75 metres. A half length waist slip has an approximate thread consumption of 40 metres. Depending on the required final quality, alternative thread types may be used. Thread size will determine needle size.

Where two Tex sizes of thread have been suggested the choice will be determined by:
- The demands of the stitching operation
- The amount of load / demand placed on the seam
- The stitch definition required (topstitching)
Coverseaming on underslips may involve the following stitch types:
- 406 - Twin needle coverseam
- 407 - Three needle coverseam
- 605 - Three needle coverseam with a top covering thread
The recommendations in the table above apply to all of these stitch types. The choice of which thread to use for top cover is determined by the appearance required.
In almost all cases the product selected for top covering thread, on underslips, is the same substrate as the thread used in the other elements of the stitch type, in this case Epic.
However if a specific stitch appearance is required then other threads may be used for top covering. Popular top covering threads include:
Gramax, Epic and Sylko.
The sewing thread recommendations laid out above are intended as a guide to aid the construction of garments with good quality seams.
