Polo Shirts

When manufacturing knitted polo shirts, it’s important to use fine needles in order to avoid costly needle damage to the fabrics. We offer fine sizes of sewing thread which are made to the highest quality standards and deliver the requisite tenacity. Approximate thread consumption is 90 metres.

Alternative thread types may be used depending on required final quality. The thread size will determine the choice of needle size.

    Disclaimer

While Epic Tex 24 or 30 has been selected for the overlock and coverseam looper elements in the above table, manufacturers sometimes favour the use of textured polyester sewing thread for these elements.

Where this is the case our recommendation would be for Gramax Tex 18.

The sewing thread recommendations laid out above are intended as a guide to aid the construction of garments with good quality seams. As garments of the same generic type differ in terms of fabric substrate and construction, and both making up methods and post make up processing can greatly vary, these recommendations should be viewed as a good starting point for thread selection.

Where two Tex sizes of thread have been suggested the choice will be determined by the demands of the stitching operation, the amount of load / demand placed on the seam and the type and weight of fabric being sewn.

In order to avoid damage to the fabric during the sewing of knitted garments, ball point needles are generally recommended.
