Our state of the art carbon room is dedicated to developing high performance, light weight, heavy duty and fully customizable composite constructions. From carbon processing units to aramid converting lines to Fiberglass processing equipment, Coats Speciality is able to commingle carbon and various thermoplastic Fibers which will produce advanced thermoplastic parts for the wind, automotive, aerospace and sporting goods markets.

SYNERGEX is a range of advanced composite Fibers which provide custom solutions for complex applications such as commingling, twisting or coating and rewinding.

Commingling

Thermoplastic prepregs have advantages over the more common thermoset composite material in terms of higher impact resistance, lower molding cycle times, and the flexibility to mold small parts of different shapes. SYNERGEX composite fiber technology intimately commingles carbon reinforcement fibers with thermoplastic yarns like Nylon, PET, PEEK, PP, PPS, and UHMWPE, a single mixed roving of uniform dispersion across its cross-section. This unique technique minimizes filamentation of the reinforcement fiber and ensures parallel alignment of the fiber mix as well as a homogenous distribution resulting in a first consolidation.

Thermoplastic Yarn Options

Twisting

Reinforcement fibers can be customized to meet end-use application demands by twisting one or more fiber types together. The revolutionized technology of SYNERGEX enables us to make a more durable, more controlled composite fiber by twisting 1-5 ply constructions of Carbon, Para-aramid, and Fiberglass used to create fabrics containing unique hybrid properties.

Coats offers a range of water based coatings that can be applied to Synergex. All are friendly to the environment and help to improve abrasion resistance, adhesion levels and durability.
