Classic metal zips with special profile metal teeth

Standard metal zips are manufactured using bead technology, where profile metal elements (teeth) are clamped on woven and dyed textile tape; brass wire is usually used to make the teeth.

Precision cutting and stapling processes are followed by multiple brushing and polishing operations, to ensure that the M zip runs smoothly.

Textile tapes are usually made from polyester, but can be made from cotton when the zips are applied in post dyed garments.

Coats commit to following environmental and health and safety legislations in regards to ensuring zips do not contain heavy metals. All standard Coats Opti zips are conformed to these requirements. However if a customer requires zips with the use of heavy metal, Coats would apply careful precautions to supply the products.

Disclaimer

Metal zips used on leather goods may exhibit a change in the metal finish, due to chemical agents applied on the leather which are not properly washed away or neutralized after tanning.

Care should be taken when using zips in contrast applications against light colored and sensitive fabrics such as pigmented leathers and polyurethane materials.

Chemicals used in garment dyeing and bleaching may cause a change in color of the metal zip elements or result in a stain migration problem.

Prior to bulk production, Coats Opti recommends that tests and trials are carried out on all zip uses/applications in order to verify that the product meets end customer requirements and the demands of internal processing conditions.
