1961	Merger with Patons & Baldwins, forms Coats Patons.
1986	Merger with Vantona Viyella, forms Coats Viyella.
2000	Strategic decision to refocus on Coats' global thread business.
2001	Acquisition of DMC Industrial Thread. Coats Viyella Plc renamed Coats plc.
2003	Guinness Peat Group plc acquires Coats plc and Ordinary shares are delisted from the Stock Exchange.
2004	As from April 2004, the corporate structure is that Guinness Peat Group plc owns 100% of the Ordinary shares in Coats Group Limited, which in turn owns 100% of the Ordinary shares in Coats plc.
